Defence
There is no EU policy area for defence, at least not officially. The role is better maintained by the individual member states. Those are generally members of international defence alliances, such as Nato. Some are also members of the Western Union, which is however not active and embedded somewhere deep inside the Brusells bureaucracy at the moment, but can be relieved if need be.
